Glossaries, Ghost Stories, and Steam Launch

77 Oleander version 2.1 is now live and you can update your copy of the game or grab a new copy in order to unlock the full in-game glossary as well as a few quality of life improvements! This is a great chance to check the game out if you haven't yet, and if you'd rather wait for the steam release that's coming up soon as well!

Glossary and Notes Feature

Version 2.1  adds an automatically updating glossary and notes feature to the game, cataloging the material Tabby finds in her exploration and adding contextual information for terms and references throughout the game. As you play, you'll see a small notification in the top left corner of the screen indicating the addition of  glossary entries, which you can brows at your leisure in the game's menu. The Glossary tab is divided into both a glossary and notes section: The glossary section contains information about real world concepts, cultural touchstones, and other references while the notes section contains information on documents or records found within the game that relate to the mystery of 77 Oleander Avenue.

Please note that if you've already started your game and load a save file after updating, your existing file may not unlock previous glossary and notes entries. That won't have any bearing on your ability to enjoy or finish the game, but I just wanted to let you know as a heads up in case you notice some missing entries in an existing save file from an earlier version.

Steam Release - 12/19/22

On December 19th, 2022, 77 Oleander will be available for steam with expanded controller support and steam achievements! My goal is to have full controller support in the steam release so that it's also possible to play on steamdeck without issue, and from that point on I'll be updating both the steam and itch versions concurrently. One of the things I'm most excited about is steam's ability to show you how many other players have gotten certain endings and achievements, so you'll be able to see how many people have gotten the difficult and elusive Demon or Move On endings. Please look forward to the steam release in a few weeks!

Other Miscellaneous Updates

Version 2.1 also brings a few other miscellaneous bug fixes, typo and text error adjustments, a few improvements to GUI, and some minor streamlining in the backend code. Hopefully this leads to a smoother experience and minimizes bugs as you enjoy your stay in the Larkspur house at 77 Oleander Avenue!
